Vikrant Dutta is an Air force officer and has served with President Pratibha Patil for six years. He was born in Mumbai and did his schooling in Military School Belgaum. His first novel "Ode to Dignity" is the first novel in rhymed ballads by an Indian writer. It follows the abcb meter in all of its 1645 ballads and was published in June 2012. His second novel 'The Dark Rainbow" which is fiction was published in Oct 2012 by Roli books and deals with the present day relationships. He now lives in Bangalore and is editing his third novel.
