About the Author

Was born, educated and has lived most of her life on the island city Singapore. Since dropping out of Medical School and re-enrolling in university to get an Arts degree, she has worked at the Singapore Science Centre, taught English in school and written television and training scripts as well as prizewinning short stories, novels and over thirty plays (including "The Woman In A Tree On The Hill" the only Singapore play to win an Edinburgh Fringe First and "Hitting (On) Women" which was selected as a Life! Theatre Awards Best Original Script) making her one of the most prolific playwrights in Singapore. Her writing uses humor and storytelling to explore changing roles, identities and interactions in Singapore and the rest of the world, on the principle that without entertainment there can be no engagement. For her writing, She has received the NAC Young Artist Award (Drama and Fiction), the Singapore Youth Award (Arts and Culture), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) Singapore Foundation Award for outstanding contribution to the development of arts and attended the University of Iowa?s International Writing Programme (1990/1991) on a Fulbright Scholarship. She is an enthusiastic traveller, animal lover, city walker and yoga practitioner.
