Ananya Vajpeyi was born in New Delhi, and educated at the Jawaharlal University, at Oxford, where she read as a Rhodes Scholar, and at the University of Chicago. Her first book, Righteous Republic: The Political Foundations of Modern India, is forthcoming from Harvard University Press. Since 2007, she teaches in the History Department at UMass Boston. She writes regularly and widely for newspapers and magazines in India and abroad.
