About the Author

Choudhury is a novelist and literary critic based in Delhi. He is the author of the novel, Arzee the Dwarf. The book was shortlisted for the Commonwealth First Book Award and appears this year in German and Spanish translations under the title The Little King of Bombay. Choudhury’s book reviews appear in the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal.
He is also the Fiction & Poetry editor of the Indian magazine of politics and the arts, The Caravan. He writes a weekly column on Indian politics and society for the website Bloomberg View, and is also the editor of a short introduction to Indian literature, India: A Traveller’s Literary Companion. His literary weblog, The Middle Stage is seven years old and is widely read in India. In 2010 he was a Visiting Fellow at the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa.
