Book Summary
It's that time of the year again! The annual ICT T-20 carnival has come to town. On the agenda this year is more than just cricket as Shaurya Chauhan, the skipper of Capital Cavaliers soon discovers. Shaurya is going through a rough patch. His batting isn't clicking and his captaincy is being questioned, what with the team close to being knocked out. Plus, Manu Dayal, the team's dare-devil batsman, is breathing down Shaurya's neck, waiting in the wings to take over the captaincy. As Shaurya contends with these challenges on the professional front and the end of a love affair on the personal, he becomes embroiled in something deeper and even more sinister. The coach of the Cavaliers, Howard Jensen, is found with his head knocked in and Shaurya is the prime suspect. Then the police start sniffing around on account of match-fixing allegations and questions as to whether the two are connected all seem to point to Shaurya's complicity again. Mitakshara, an intrepid crime reporter, is at first convinced of Shaurya's guilt and is out to get him. But soon, she begins to suspect that things are not as they seem on the surface and Shaurya is just one link in a chain that involves bookies, businessmen, the police and of course, more than a handful of cricketers.
